Any weight other than hard hat and excessive movement triggered severe pain
Issue
Severe neck pain prevents flipping / positioning / wearing of hood during welding tasks
Solution
Weld hood weight offloaded from neck – transferred to shoulders / hips by mounting existing hood to external frame harness – liquid crystal polymer auto shading lenses also utilized
Result
Welder returned to work without aggravating injured regions
